young women's

Ok, I have a new calling, Young Women's President! Ya crazy huh? It feels like I just got out of Young Women's but anyways I started a new blog, the link is below! Please post comments on good ideas for lessons, mutual activities, handouts, or anything else that would help me! I'm way excited and really nervous. But I would really appreciate all your input! Thanks and love you all!

Congratulations Trish! That is my all time favorite calling in the church. You will love it! I loved going to girls camp! So I sent a bunch of books home with your mom so go borrow some from her. I will go through the rest of my stuff and send you some ideas. I'm sure you have already heard this but first thing to do is take any concerns, ideas or whatever to our Heavenly Father. It is amazing the inspiration you will recieve when you ask for His help and guidance. One wise bit of advice my bishop gave to me is that I am always the leader first then a friend. I personally think that was wonderful advice because the young women respected me more when I lead them instead of trying to be their friend. They seemed to listen to my counsel better too. This doesn't mean you can't have fun with them, there just has to be a line or better word balance between the two. The young women president before me had a counselor who wanted to just be the girls friend, she would let them drive her car some didn't even have their license yet and just do crazy things with them, had them over for sleep overs all the time. It wasn't a good thing because when this lady would try to teach them they basically made a joke out of it. It was all about the fun with her.
You will be so awesome. Love them and don't judge them. They are all going through different things in their lives and you along with your counselors will be able to help them through these tough times. It is a very rewarding calling. Infact I just had one of my young women come to my house with her two kids on Halloween. She gave me a big hug and that surprised me because she was one that we had a lot of trouble with and has had a rough life because of choices she has made. You will touch these girls lives in ways that you won't even know about. I am so excited for you. Love ya, Shawna

Oh my heck...I'm so excited for you.
I love young women's. We need to talk, I have tons of ideas, stories, etc. You are going to do a super job and your testimony will help so many girls. It's so neat to hear from the young women I had, to share memories, see them as moms etc. The Lord really does have their best interests at heart and calls those who are strong and valiant. You are going to learn so much and yeah girls camp-some of my best times were there. Love ya dn good luck. Vic

TRISH
THAT IS SO EXCITING. I SO AGREE WITH SHAWNA IN WHAT SHE SAID.
BE THEIR LEADER THEN A FRIEND.
THE RESPECT AND HONOR WILL COME AS YOU GET TO KNOW EACH OF THESE GIRLS INDIVIDUALLY OVER THE YEARS.
THEY WILL EACH BRING A DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCE TO YOU AND HEAVENLY FATHER WILL GUIDE YOU WITH LOVE AND HELPING HANDS FOR EACH OF THEM.
I LOVED THIS CALLING AND HAVE HAD IT MANY TIMES AND ON A STAKE BASIS ALSO.
RELAX, ENJOY, BOND THRU HEAVENLY FATHER. HE WILL GUIDE YOU SWEETIE.
XOXO & HUGS
